Hi Myrl, I am up late trying to figure out how I am going to get my Mac fixed?? I picked it up tonight from the Apple Store. They installed a new hard drive, I lost 7 days of data, backed up through July 23 but the issue is that Windows will not launch because of the hal.dll file that is corrupt and no help from Apple.

So about now, I could really use a piece of this. Looks fabulous and I am sure it tastes even better.

Sharon - Wow, a 100 degrees in Dallas is REALLY HOT. You're right, you might want to hold off for cooler weather.

William - I would take your Mac back to the Apple Store, or to a technician familiar with Macs, and tell them about the.dll file. They likely need to wipe your hard-drive clean, reinstall Windows (including updates). My Sony Vaiois now working perfectly. I was fortunate enough to rememberJack, the guy next door to me had a careerin computers. . .Do you emember Jack, who shares the fence with my dog, Kodi Bear? Anyway, Jack found that because I NEVER seemed to get around to installing updates on my laptop, that critical files were missing, and it came to a point that I could not update my browser or Adobe reader. Jack spent the better part of the day on Friday, and all is working well now. He charged me only a "neighbor" rate - about half what anyone else would have.

Somehow, I had figured out your were a "meat and potatoes" guy, by your remarks about my ethnic recipes. I only want to add one thing though - A very wise man once told meyou need to get out of judgment and into curiosity. LOL

Anything with nuts in it is always good and the old fashioned way, actually making it and not just opening a box like most of the kids do today, is the way to go!!! thanks! I will pass this one on to my daughter too!!!!

Put 40 years of experience to work for you

I'm sitting here thinking about what I should nibble on because I'm hungry and wondering if it's time for lunch yet and there you are with this delicious apple nut cake staring me in the face. Thanks a lot. Now I am craving at least a muffin -- thinking what could I bake? No, no, too fattening.

Hey, who uses a Bundt cake pan anymore?

Bravo Myrl,

It is break time form working on this computer all day with Parallels. They did have to wipe it clean and it is re-installed. No data was salvageable ( so much for backing up ). Reminds me here , before I forget the following. Practice makes perfect. Actually that is not true. Perfect practice makes perfect. So, the idea I am trying to convey with only little sleep and no lunch, LOL, is bad data in, bad data out. Guess I should have just said that and let it go. LMAO.

Many things are not working. I can not upload the photos out of iPhoto. Seems that when they re-installed the new hard drive, maybe a little of the program feel on the floor and got kicked under the rug.

As I sit here contemplating the amount of extra work this has caused and trying to rationally set some sort of schedule to get things back up to where they were, it occurs to me that a nap sounds like a good way to take care of lunch, and answer the tired eyes all in one action. Sort of like multi-tasking by doing on one thing.

Oh, now I remember why I am back leaving another comment. The last thing you said rang so true for me and I am so delighted that you have taken custody of it. Howard Brinton ( ill with cancer ) used those words years ago and it is one wonderful way to honor him by living and sharing that marvelous idea conveyed in those words.

Barbara Jo - When it comes to cooking, I take the path of MOST resistence. There is something good for the soul in mixing your own ingredients, rather than opening a box.

Diane - So true about Mom's recipes. Mom passed in 1975 when I was a young woman. My dad preceded her by nine years. So, in order to feel their presence, I can whip up one of the old family recipes.

Ann - You're very welcome, Kind Lady! Thank you for visiting!

Jane Anne - I go to the local Farmer's Market every Saturday morning. My ingredients are natural, and unmessed with. Free range eggs, walnuts locally grown. The flour is off the store shelf, but really shouldn't be. I actually have a wheat mill.

Elizabeth - Although, it was a tube pan that this cake was baked in, I do occassionally use a bundt pan. It happens every once in awhile, when the family goes retro, and we haul out the fondue pots.

William - There is nothing worse than losing valuable data. Especially when it comes tophotos. And those crazy sleeping hours are strange too. I actually woke up at 4:30 am again this morning. I went down to Old Sacramento at dawn, and took some pictures of some of the more subterranean lareas there. I have just returned from swimming. I'm going to throw a little steak on the grill and eat, and then I'll process the pictures and blog 'em.

Hello Myrl, I don't enjoy cooking as much as I enjoy baking. I love apples and nuts, so this one sounds like a winner. I'm gonna give it a try.

P.S. By way of this post you have unknowingly introduced me to the recipe groups on AR. Thanks so much!
